KEEP CALM AND KNOX ON

Below you’ll find a list of all you’ll need to do synchro hair at routine meets and shows!

Please remember that it is Sac Synchro standard for athletes always to arrive at routine meets already knoxed, unless other instructions have been given, or other arrangements have been made with your coach.

SYNCHRO HAIR TUTORIALS

A tutorial for new families will be held before our first routine meet. But you can click here and here for more tutorials!

(The second video is a cute mom/daughter version. We do use hair nets, though.)

TIPS ON KNOXING

  • Make sure there are no chunks, and you want it pretty well coated. Err on the side of too much rather than too little;. if you don't have enough knox on, her hair will fall out.

  • Check that your hotel or other accommodations have access to hot/boiling water or a microwave/stove to boil water.  A portable water heater is useful to have.

  • Get up extra early, because it takes a while if you’re new to knoxing.

  • You can always add more water if it’s a bit thick, but never add more knox to too-thin mixture.

SYNCHRO HAIR PACKING LIST

  •  Knox gelatin

You’ll need 4 packets per meet or performance day, plus 4 extra. At grocery stores, Target, or on Amazon:  Knox Gelatin.

  • bowl and applicator/brush

A measuring cup (like this one), or other cup will work (must take hot/boiling water), plus applicator with a pointy end (for stirring) and brush. Example: Applicator Brush Set. Basting brushes and paint brushes work great, too. Just make sure you have something to stir the Knox with (spoon, wooden coffee stir stick, etc.

  • WATER BOILER (optional)

Water boiler:  Useful to have, in case your hotel doesn’t have a coffee machine or other method of boiling water in your room.

Example:  Gourmia Travel Foldable Electric Kettle

  • BUN (HAIR) PINS & BOBBY PINS

If you’re wondering what the difference is, click here.

Capezio on H Street carries these great bun pins, which can also be found online at Discount Dance Supply and sometimes Amazon.

  • Hair/bun nets to match wet hair color

You’ll need one per meet day plus an extra. Available at capezio and some beauty or drug stores. Example:  Bunheads hair nets.

  • Comb and brush

  • Pony tail holders

  • small rubber bands

The little plastic ones you need for the ends of a braid.  Color doesn’t matter.  They do not show.
